About Us

It's Lovely to Meet You!

We're Paul and Ryan, the co-founders of Lazy Jane! Our relationship with vintage and textiles started as two friends in high school interested in fashion, but unimpressed by the quality, lack of individuality, and accessibility of major retailers. Once learning of how harmful the fast-fashion industry was on our planet, we turned to thrifting, up-cycling, and mending to make and care for our own dream wardrobes.

Nearly 10 years of repairing and selling vintage later, we've grown together as both a couple and a business into patterning, tailoring, embroidery, screen printing, and practically every other area of fiber arts we can get our hands on.

We're so grateful to be able to share it all with you now.

Vintage Clothing, Not Vintage Values

Lazy Jane is a queer & trans owned business and we felt it was best to be upfront with you: we support the rights and happiness of queer/trans people, people of color, immigrants, women, people with disabilities, and everyone else with a soul.

If you don't, we don't want your money and you wouldn't even look good in our clothing. In the words of comedy genius Hannah Einbinder,

Sustainability

Fashion's Global Impact

According to the UN Environment Program, the fashion industry is the second-biggest consumer of water and is responsible for about 10% of global carbon emissions – more than all international flights and maritime shipping combined.

Who's Making It?

Reported by Fashion United, the fashion industry relies on 75 million international factory workers, yet only 2% are earning a living wage. All clothing, regardless of its source, passes through human hands in it's production. The door busting deals offered by major retailers often come at the cost of someone else's quality of life.

  • Diverting Textile Waste

Textiles make up a massive portion of our global waste. All materials used by Lazy Jane are vintage/ second-hand. This includes fabrics, printing blanks, buttons, zippers, and trims, all of which were saved from landfills to live another life in your wardrobe!

  • Slowing Down Production

All sewing and mending is done in house by us. We pride ourselves on pacing our work to ensure that we are able to maintain a high-standard of quality craftsmanship, care, and love with every piece. There is no garment worth the price of someone else's suffering.

  • Something for all!

Lazy Jane original pieces are done made to order, allowing us to accommodate anyone's measurements and craft something that you truly feel loved by while wearing. This also ensures our materials are going into garments already spoken for, further preventing waste.

FAQ

Do you accept returns?

We have a 30 day return policy for non-custom items that haven't been damaged, worn, washed, etc after purchasing. Check our return and refund policy for a more thorough outline of our policy.

We work hard to provide accurate measurements, clear images, and detailed descriptions to ensure that there are no surprises in terms of the appearance or fit of what you're receiving.

Do you ever offer shopping in-person?

Yes! Lazy Jane was started years ago as me thrifting while in school and selling at markets or on blankets in the park, I love getting to talk about each piece and meeting the lovely people taking them home!

While we're moving online at large now, we will still be participating in markets in the New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and New York region. Feel free to follow us on Instagram (@lazyjane) or sign up for our email to be updated on any future events!

Additionally, we have a small selection of vintage and original pieces available at Defiant Hair in Flemington, New Jersey.

We at Lazy Jane have known the fabulous, incredible, constantly raising the bar and doing it flawlessly folks at Defiant for years and have been lucky enough to sell at their events and offer our wares inside year round!

If you're in the area, we strongly suggest checking them out, not just for the vintage, but for the absolutely peak level service, skill, and vibe they have going on in there.
